Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year!

Autumn 11 - Hydroelectric Schemes

The season for in-stream works in rivers is now closed until May 2012, but we have been working with  landowners who have rivers flowing through their properties are investigating whether they can utilise their potential to generate electricity. What is surprising is that with modern day turbines, even a small 'head' or height potential of 1-2 meters is all that is needed for a successful hydroelectric scheme. Bluegreen Environmental have provided hydrological and ecological assessments for hydro schemes in Wexford and Tipperary. We have investigated generation potential, flood risks, weir design and the ecological impacts associated with the developments, recommending mitigation measures where required so as to minimse impacts and keep within legislative compliance.

We are looking forward to seeing these projects up and running next summer!

Spring 11 - Work Projects

Bluegreen has had a busy summer, working on a range of projects, including Appropriate Assessments and Natura Impact Statements for water and civil infrastructural projects, ecological assessments for drainage projects, and small scale hydro-power schemes. We continue to expand our range of clients and services. We have also teamed up with Water Resources Engineering Ltd., allowing us both to expand the range of services that we provide.
