Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Statement (EIS) Production
Certain developments must be assessed for likely environmental impacts before planning permission can be granted.
The purpose of EIA is to allow the planning and regulatory authorities to make reasoned, well-informed judgements
about the likely environmental impacts of a specific project. To achieve this, a number of environmental studies are required.
Studies are undertaken in a series of stages, such as the
screening; scoping; impact assesment; mitigation; and statement (EIS)
production stages. Each of these stages must be done to a standard that
will satisfy the requirements as specified by planning and regulatory
authorities.
BEC can manage and coordinate a project through all stages of an
Environmental Impacts Assessment, from statutory consultations through
to Statement Production and on to the decision making process. BEC have
developed a partnership network of specialist subconsultants to create
a complete Environmental Impact Assessment. All BEC specialists are
qualified experts in their respective discipline, members of a relevant
chartered body and trained expert witnesses.
